Mickey Moody

Head Coach

Coach Mickey Moody is entering his first season as Head Coach for the Ola Mustangs Baseball program. Coach Moody is no stranger to high school baseball, having previously been head coach at Spalding County High School and Jackson High School in Butts County. He has a record of 400-170 as a head coach. He is a two time GHSA Coach of the Year with over 60 players who have competed at the college and professional levels. He has 7 region championships and 2 GHSA Final Four appearances. Coach Moody lives in Williamson Ga with his wife Melissa. They have three grown children, Casey, Mick and Micah.

Thomas Stanley

Freshmen Head Coach

Coach Stanley has 8 years of coaching experience at various levels. He has worked with baseball players who are now playing at the college and professional levels. Helping players achieve success on and off the field is the ultimate reward to coaching. His goal for Ola baseball is to help build community and culture that extends beyond the diamond. Coach Stanley is a 3rd year teacher at Ola Middle School, teaching ELA and Social Studies. This is his first year coaching baseball at Ola High School. Previously, he served as JV baseball coach and pitching instructor at Eagles Landing Christian Academy. He is blessed with a wonderful family that includes his son Hayden and daughter-in-law Morgan who are the owners of Fire & Ice at Jackson Lake.

John Hill

Junior Varsity Coach

Coach Hill has over 20 years of coaching experience. He is the President of Ola Athletic Association, an all volunteer, non-profit, youth baseball league in our community. He played baseball in high school for Fitzgerald High School in Fitzgerald, GA. Coach Hill is passionate about coaching the game of baseball and the life lessons that go with it. His goal is to help new players entering the program develop so they can be successful throughout their playing career at Ola and beyond. He is married to his wife Georgia and they have 2 sons, Jake and Luke.

Chad Sanders

Varsity Infield Coach

Coach Sanders has 24 years of baseball coaching experience with 5 years at Ola. A highlight of his coaching career was winning the PG Nationals Championship. It is his goal to help Ola baseball play deep into the playoffs while helping the players grow their knowledge of the game and life lessons. He is married to his wife Carrie and they have 3 kids, Katelyn (married to Cory), Baylen, and Macklin; and 2 grandkids, Ace and Archie.

David Mendez

Pitching Coach

Coach Mendez is in his first year of coaching at Ola High School but has 10 years of coaching and training experience with baseball players at various ages and levels. A native of Panama City Panama, Coach Mendez started representing his country, playing international tournaments at the age of thirteen. In 1996, he was signed by the Atlanta Braves organization as a left handed pitcher and played 6 years of professional baseball to the AA level of the minor leagues. As a pitching coach, he believes in teaching young pitchers the fundamentals, proper mechanics, and command of the baseball. Coach Mendez lives in Ola with his wife Andrea and two sons David Jr. and Daniel.

Garrett Walker

Junior Varsity Coach

Coach Walker is entering his second year of coaching and his first year at Ola. He is a native of Mcdonough, GA where he played for Union Grove High School. Coach Walker continued his education and baseball career at Emmanuel University. His goal is to pass along his passion and knowledge of the game to future generations within the community.

Roy Brooks

Varsity Coach

Coach Brooks is in his first year at Ola High School. Coach Brooks graduated from Spalding High School in 2003 where he was a four-year starter at 2nd base. After High School, Coach Brooks took his baseball career to the Univsity of Alabama at Birmingham where he played for three years and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and Human Development in 2006. After college, Coach Brooks returned to his alma matter in 2009 and joined Coach Moody’s staff at Spalding High School where he coached until 2013. Coach Brooks has also assisted Coach Moody at Hard Knox baseball from 2020 – 2022. Coach Brooks has been married to his wife Leslie for 10 years, is a deacon at Rock Springs Church, and is the Director of Sales at Yancey Bros. He is excited to be with the program and is looking forward to making a significant impact in the lives of his players.
